So you want to know how to lose weight in just two weeks? In most cases, weight loss requires a long term regimen, but it is possible to shed pounds in short periods. Certainly you will need to be careful not to overdo it and make sure that you stay healthy in the process.

Of course, it would be simple to lose a lot of weight over two weeks by simply not eating, but this would be unwise. One of the first things you would have to do though is to adjust your diet. You will need to reduce caloric intake.

One trick is to actually eat more smaller meals each day rather than three large ones. For example, you could eat six small meals a day. Research has shown that eating more frequent but smaller meals actually results in a net reduction of calories eaten daily together with a net increase in the number of calories burned daily. Apparently more frequent smaller meals help to increase the baseline metabolic rate, i.e., the speed in which the body burns calories even without exercise.

Limit the amount of carbohydrates and fats that you consume. However, you should take care that you are getting sufficient vitamins and minerals. Eat a balanced diet but with limited calories by watching your intake of sugars and fats. You should be able to limit yourself to 1200 calories a day without risking your health and while still getting all the required nutrition. You might want to consider vitamin supplementation while dieting.

The other key to burning off body fat is physical activity. The most important type of physical activity is exercise. However, you should generally avoid high resistance workouts as these cause the body to build muscle, and this can sometimes lead to weight gain. If your main objective is to lose weight, you will want to stick to exercise like brisk walking, jogging, basketball and tennis. You should avoid weightlifting, sprinting or gymnastics. Try to schedule at least two workouts a day. This will allow you to rest in between workouts, and can lead to burning more calories per day.

Look at increasing general physical activity outside of your dedicated workout sessions. For example, at work or school think about using the stairs rather than the elevator. With a little discipline and a set schedule, you should be able to shed pounds without much trouble.
